Paula Boudreau’s commentary -The Maritime Show Dog List

Some of you know I have a 6 year old female dobe who was diagnosed with "vaccinosis" at an early age (I have since been educated), and has generally been an unwell dog her whole life. I have been to many competent veterinarians who have tried to treat her chronic condition: extreme itchiness, dry skin, lethargy, constant goobery eyes, and the list goes on. In hopes I could offer her some relief, I've spent a small fortune on supplements, diet (including a full spectrum BARF diet), homeopathics, chiropractics, etc. Some things worked for a short period of time, some not at all.........and none gave me hope that she would improve and stay that way. My husband can testify I had thrown in the towel where Troika was concerned. I would continue to give her the love and care she was used to, but beyond that, I sadly couldn't help her.

And then along came "K9 Shine", an all natural herring oil supplement, made locally. I have always supplemented with salmon oil, but thought I would switch the source of the EFA's, prefering the idea of raw oil over the capsules....my young male (who has been minimally vaccinated) has a magnificent coat, and I wanted to keep it that way. I wasn't even thinking of Troika (remember, I had given up).

They have both been on this product for a few months now, and I'm afraid to pinch myself, there's been such a dramatic change in my female. Her itchiness (which was her main problem) has been cut by atleast 70%. Her coat is beginning to shine. The goobers are, for the most part, gone. Her mood is so much better, and to beat everything, her energy level is vastly improved.........she loves to play again! I can only report what I witness, and realize every dog and every situation is different; but Troika was a hopeless case.........perhaps there are more cases like her out there. I hesitate to delude myself into thinking this change is permanent...she may fall apart again, as has happened so many times during her lifetime. In the meantime, I can tell you, I'll be keeping her on K9 Shine, and keeping my fingers tightly crossed.

If this post can help one other owner who is struggling with skin and coat issues with their canines, then it was worth reporting. BTW, I have no financial interest in this company, but I sure hope they stay in business a very long time!
